The UK-wide company will be introducing three new models to its Steam Tec range, including the first industrial steam cleaner to be truly portable. The new Battery model, which comes in 12v or 24v versions, gives working times of 1.5 hours with the 12v version and four hours with the 24v option. It can also be plugged into a normal electricity supply.

6. The second new model is Graffiti which uses a combination of steam/ sand and steam/ detergent to make short work of cleaning walls, pavements and other hard surfaces.

While designed to be tough on graffiti, this model is also excellent at sanitation tasks. Combining the key features of both the Battery and Graffiti

models, EDGE’s Dual steam cleaner is designed for high performance and comes with two standard 6m hoses, gun and lance assembly.

Features include: Low energy requirements; High temperatures of up to 180°C; Minimal water usage and a chemical injection facility. It also boasts 10 bar of steam pr

essure and a pre-heating time of just two minutes, producing steam at 37.5kg/h. The Dual model gives the option of multiple operators, with corrosion proof casting and a battery option to allow users to work anywhere.

EDGE will be launching these new products at their ‘Steam Day’, a one-day seminar in the Premier Suite at Uttoxeter Racecourse on October 26. The event will include a product introduction, discussion of market opportunities, demonstrations and technical workshops.

The market-leading guarantee, unveiled at the group’s 20^th AGM this month, will boost the cover on EDGE’s hot and cold water pressure washers in a move that underlines the quality of the group’s range.

Under the new warranties, hot water machines in the Panther II, Tiger II, Hot Static and Grimebuster II ranges will be covered by a 3-2-1 guarantee. This will cover heating coils for three years, pump motors for two years and other ‘non wear’ items for one year.

Cold water machines including the Leopard Plus, Polecat ECO, Puma ECO and Manx ranges will have a two year warranty on pump motors and one year on ‘non wear’ items.

Chairman of EDGE Alwyn Williams said: “Throughout our 20 year history we have listened closely to our customers. We know that our customers need machines that work reliably, because any downtime can be detrimental to their business.

“The core components of pressure washers – and the most expensive – are coils, motors and pumps, and these are covered under the 3-2-1 guarantee.

“These new warranties reflect our confidence that EDGE products offer market-leading quality, together with the high technical specification and value our ranges are known for.”

The warranties, which come into effect in June 2012, are subject to servicing agreements.

The announcement comes just weeks after the UK-wide distributor group revealed its plans to extend its distributor reach with a new EDGE Direct van service. The group is now actively recruiting for the new service, which will initially boost the group’s coverage in the South East, after a successful trial earlier this year.

Nationwide cleaning equipment group EDGE is announcing plans to roll out its new direct to door van service after a highly successful pilot of the service in the south-east.

The Staffordshire-based group, which has distributors across the UK, started the van service EDGE Direct in 2011 in order to expand its market reach.

The pilot project saw John Hurley, of Hurley Industrial Cleaning in Witney, Oxfordshire, selling products direct to customers across the South East. Backed with marketing support from EDGE’s head office, John explained that the operation blossomed.

John said: “We set up the service in response to market demand in areas we don’t currently have distributors. I found that once you meet a potential customer, EDGE products basically sell themselves because they are good quality, competitively priced and come with industry-leading guarantees.”

Within the six-month trial, EDGE Direct proved to be a profitable source of revenue for the company.

Chairman of EDGE Alwyn Williams said: “With marketing support from our head office, John has created a good stream of new and regular customers. His success in the south east has proved that EDGE Direct is a powerful addition to the group and we are now looking to roll out similar operations across the UK.”

The company is initially looking for EDGE Direct salespeople in the South East, North West and South West. Eventually it plans to expand its fleet to cover six areas during the next 24 months.
